TOEFL
International students whose native language is not English must submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Please arrange to have your official scores sent to GIAC by ETS. No department code is necessary. Only test scores mailed directly from the testing agency are considered official. If you hold a bachelor's degree from a U.S. institution or from an institution in another English-only speaking country, you will receive a waiver of the TOEFL. The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are: TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT). The average TOEFL score for current Chemistry graduate students is 100.

Please specify in your Statement of Purpose which broad area of chemistry describes your interests (analytical, inorganic, organic, or physical). We encourage you to describe interdisciplinary interests, as well. It is helpful in our review process if you will also indicate specific research themes and/or faculty with whom your interests align. Fee
Pay the application fee ($65 for US citizens and permanent residents; $90 for international students).

You will be asked to list the names and email addresses of three people you have chosen to recommend you for admission. Once you submit your application, an email will be sent to each recommender instructing them to visit a website and complete a questionnaire. The letters will automatically be routed to the Chemistry Department.
