<p>“我未來(lái)的路該怎么走？”這是我大一時(shí)常常問(wèn)自己的問(wèn)題。剛從高考的后勁中走出來(lái)，面對(duì)一個(gè)意想不到的錄取方向和如同白紙的大學(xué)生活，我開(kāi)始不斷在未來(lái)道路的選擇和實(shí)踐中徘徊。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>面對(duì)一個(gè)相對(duì)純粹的海洋生物學(xué)科，在大學(xué)四年專(zhuān)業(yè)知識(shí)不斷擴(kuò)充和實(shí)習(xí)實(shí)踐交錯(cuò)進(jìn)行的學(xué)習(xí)生涯下，我慢慢看到這個(gè)領(lǐng)域不同的發(fā)展方向。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>那時(shí)，身邊的同學(xué)都在為保研和考研做準(zhǔn)備，而我，卻深感國(guó)內(nèi)的學(xué)術(shù)氛圍和發(fā)展路徑不完全適合我。<span style="color: #0086d1;">關(guān)于我所學(xué)習(xí)的專(zhuān)業(yè)，我一直期待與另一個(gè)領(lǐng)域的結(jié)合，如生物醫(yī)學(xué)工程、生物信息學(xué)、可持續(xù)金融、ESG等等</span>，是否有一個(gè)更廣闊的平臺(tái)，可以讓我在學(xué)術(shù)和職業(yè)上有更多的選擇和挑戰(zhàn)？</p>
<p> </p>
<p>于是，留學(xué)的念頭悄然萌生。</p>
<p> </p>
<h1><strong>放棄實(shí)驗(yàn)室深造選擇留學(xué)</strong></h1>
<p> </p>
<p>說(shuō)起留學(xué)的決定，回想起來(lái)，真正讓我下定決心的契機(jī)，來(lái)自一次大二暑期至大三的實(shí)驗(yàn)室經(jīng)歷。在那一整個(gè)學(xué)年中，我有幸進(jìn)入了一位非常知名的導(dǎo)師的實(shí)驗(yàn)室，參與了兩項(xiàng)科研項(xiàng)目和一篇論文的完成。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>我與實(shí)驗(yàn)室的師兄師姐們進(jìn)行了深入的交流，也切身體會(huì)了國(guó)內(nèi)研究生的日常生活和具體的項(xiàng)目?jī)?nèi)容。這些寶貴的經(jīng)驗(yàn)讓我受益匪淺，但實(shí)驗(yàn)室每天充實(shí)的日程中，我逐漸發(fā)現(xiàn)自己似乎對(duì)與生命科學(xué)相關(guān)的濕實(shí)驗(yàn)的科研意愿并不強(qiáng)烈。</p>

<p>在這些日子里，我找準(zhǔn)機(jī)會(huì)與帶我的教授進(jìn)行深入交流，談到自己對(duì)于學(xué)術(shù)未來(lái)的困惑時(shí)，教授熱心地給予了我建議，他在認(rèn)可我并愿意給予我機(jī)會(huì)留在實(shí)驗(yàn)室發(fā)展的同時(shí)，也鼓勵(lì)我去嘗試更開(kāi)放的學(xué)術(shù)環(huán)境，甚至為我寫(xiě)了一篇極為誠(chéng)懇的推薦信強(qiáng)烈推薦我去申請(qǐng)國(guó)外的研究生項(xiàng)目。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>教授的鼓勵(lì)和他自身的經(jīng)歷讓我認(rèn)識(shí)到，留學(xué)不僅僅是一個(gè)學(xué)術(shù)的選擇，更是一個(gè)人生的選擇。<span style="color: #0086d1;">在這次交流之后，我決定放棄在本校實(shí)驗(yàn)室深造的機(jī)會(huì)，邁出了留學(xué)的第一步。</span></p>

<h1><strong>死磕績(jī)點(diǎn)和專(zhuān)業(yè)實(shí)習(xí)</strong></h1>

<p>留學(xué)申請(qǐng)并非一帆風(fēng)順。好在我從大一入學(xué)開(kāi)始就不斷地為準(zhǔn)備留學(xué)而排兵布陣。面對(duì)當(dāng)時(shí)自身成績(jī)不突出，甚至有幾門(mén)課程因?yàn)榛A(chǔ)不牢而出現(xiàn)掛科和擦線(xiàn)及格的情況，我沒(méi)有氣餒，而是堅(jiān)定選擇重修課程，通過(guò)二次學(xué)習(xí)，死磕難點(diǎn)，換來(lái)第二次較為順眼的分?jǐn)?shù)，把之前的慘淡覆蓋。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>因?yàn)榇笠坏?amp;ldquo;瀟灑”，我利用大二和大三整整四個(gè)學(xué)期，<span style="color: #0086d1;">基本將大一時(shí)的必修課重修了個(gè)遍</span>，把那些極難的專(zhuān)業(yè)課提升至80分以上，思政課能提再提，其他專(zhuān)業(yè)課程保持跟進(jìn)，保證每年都有獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金的名額。隨著短板逐漸減少，均分也慢慢好看了起來(lái)。同時(shí)，我也保持了每學(xué)期多個(gè)通識(shí)課程的學(xué)習(xí)，在這些課程上取得高分也能一定程度上彌補(bǔ)專(zhuān)業(yè)課的不足。</p>

<p>在校生活中，我參加了多個(gè)學(xué)科競(jìng)賽和科研項(xiàng)目，保證每個(gè)寒暑假都有一段科研經(jīng)歷的積累。我利用在實(shí)驗(yàn)室切身參與的項(xiàng)目參加全國(guó)生命科學(xué)競(jìng)賽，撰寫(xiě)論文，同時(shí)有意圍繞目標(biāo)院校開(kāi)設(shè)的特色專(zhuān)業(yè)而專(zhuān)門(mén)參加一些領(lǐng)域的比賽，有的放矢。</p>

<p>例如，考慮到新加坡國(guó)立大學(xué)理學(xué)院開(kāi)設(shè)的生物多樣性保護(hù)與可持續(xù)發(fā)展專(zhuān)業(yè)以后有機(jī)會(huì)往ESG方向發(fā)展，我組建團(tuán)隊(duì)參加了由聯(lián)合國(guó)教科文組織和清華大學(xué)共同主辦的青年氣候變化與減災(zāi)創(chuàng)投馬拉松，并在“社區(qū)主導(dǎo)的生物多樣性保護(hù)與可持續(xù)發(fā)展”賽道中斬獲佳績(jī)；</p>

<p>由于新國(guó)立的工程學(xué)院開(kāi)設(shè)的生物醫(yī)學(xué)工程專(zhuān)業(yè)和理學(xué)院開(kāi)設(shè)的生物技術(shù)專(zhuān)業(yè)的對(duì)口就業(yè)方向是生物技術(shù)或者生物器械公司，我又找機(jī)會(huì)進(jìn)入了廣州某上市生物技術(shù)公司實(shí)習(xí)，積累寶貴經(jīng)驗(yàn)，同時(shí)參加了校內(nèi)的大創(chuàng)項(xiàng)目，在環(huán)境和藻類(lèi)的相關(guān)領(lǐng)域增長(zhǎng)眼界；</p>

<p>考慮到南洋理工大學(xué)的生物醫(yī)學(xué)數(shù)據(jù)科學(xué)專(zhuān)業(yè)比較看中計(jì)算機(jī)學(xué)科的基礎(chǔ)，我也為此申請(qǐng)了人工智能與數(shù)字經(jīng)濟(jì)廣東省實(shí)驗(yàn)室的實(shí)習(xí)，也參加了亞太地區(qū)大學(xué)生數(shù)學(xué)建模競(jìng)賽和其他建模比賽作為經(jīng)歷補(bǔ)充等等。</p>
<p> </p>
<h1><strong>沒(méi)有保底！放手一搏新加坡</strong></h1>
<p> </p>
<p>決定留學(xué)之后，我就開(kāi)始著手準(zhǔn)備申請(qǐng)。由于我本身在廣州長(zhǎng)大，對(duì)香港地區(qū)實(shí)在不太感興趣，而且認(rèn)為英國(guó)的就業(yè)環(huán)境逐漸下滑，且之前有過(guò)旅游體驗(yàn)，我將目標(biāo)瞄準(zhǔn)了新加坡。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>我申請(qǐng)了新加坡國(guó)立大學(xué)（NUS）和南洋理工大學(xué)（NTU），這兩所學(xué)校的排名，學(xué)術(shù)氛圍和實(shí)習(xí)機(jī)會(huì)讓我很心動(dòng)。由于地區(qū)限制，我沒(méi)法選擇保底學(xué)校，只計(jì)劃申請(qǐng)新加坡兩所和帝國(guó)理工（IC）。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>申請(qǐng)的過(guò)程并不輕松，因?yàn)椴豢紤]保底，讓我的申請(qǐng)壓力非常大，尤其是在雅思成績(jī)上，我認(rèn)為是我申請(qǐng)過(guò)程的最大短板。雅思的首考在大三下學(xué)期，第一次考試只考了6分，聽(tīng)力和口語(yǔ)的爆雷讓我心情十分低落。</p>

<p>然而，看到上屆學(xué)長(zhǎng)相同語(yǔ)言的成功申請(qǐng)案例，給我留下了一絲僥幸心態(tài)。很快，新國(guó)立的提前批申請(qǐng)?jiān)谑罴俚絹?lái)，我天真的認(rèn)為在與直系學(xué)長(zhǎng)的背景同類(lèi)比較中，我能夠穩(wěn)穩(wěn)拿到生物技術(shù)和生物多樣性保護(hù)的offer，<span style="color: #0086d1;">但是提前批的結(jié)果給了我“當(dāng)頭一棒”</span>。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>在復(fù)盤(pán)時(shí)，申請(qǐng)老師對(duì)比了一些本校本屆成功案例，認(rèn)為是雅思分?jǐn)?shù)拖了后腿。盡管我給NUS招生辦打了電話(huà)，得到不需要刷分和再等等的確切信息后，還是決定在十月中旬開(kāi)啟第二輪的雅思備考。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>但是第二次認(rèn)真努力的結(jié)果卻是聽(tīng)力和口語(yǔ)的二次爆雷，我在平時(shí)練習(xí)都從未出現(xiàn)過(guò)的低分卻在印在了正式成績(jī)單上，那段時(shí)間確實(shí)無(wú)比焦慮，在拿到成績(jī)后的第一時(shí)間進(jìn)行了復(fù)議。</p>
<p> </p>
<h1><strong>終于等到NUS開(kāi)獎(jiǎng)</strong></h1>
<p> </p>
<p>在還沒(méi)緩過(guò)來(lái)，重新投入屠雅狀態(tài)之前，11月22日悄然到來(lái)了——那是新國(guó)立設(shè)計(jì)與工程學(xué)院第一批offer的開(kāi)獎(jiǎng)時(shí)間。我記得在那一天，我?guī)缀趺扛羰昼姸家卿浺淮喂倬W(wǎng)，查詢(xún)申請(qǐng)狀態(tài)，無(wú)一例外都是Submitted，社交媒體上大家的狀態(tài)也都沒(méi)有任何動(dòng)靜。<span style="color: #0086d1;">下午四點(diǎn)，在我以為今天又要沒(méi)有動(dòng)靜而結(jié)束的時(shí)候，微信突然傳來(lái)了舍友的提醒“工學(xué)院開(kāi)獎(jiǎng)了！”</span></p>

<p>直至今日，那時(shí)內(nèi)心的緊張和手抖仍讓我記憶猶新，在沒(méi)有任何延遲的登入后，“Biomedical Engineering --- offer made”幾個(gè)字印入眼簾。offer來(lái)的如此突然，就在我還在緊張備考之前，一瞬間內(nèi)心的壓力得到巨大的釋放。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>我一直認(rèn)為BME是我申請(qǐng)的所有專(zhuān)業(yè)中bar最高的一個(gè)，原因也是來(lái)源于觀(guān)察之前的錄取案例，我?guī)缀醪桓蚁嘈抛约耗軌蛟诘谝慌鸁o(wú)面試就拿到了工程學(xué)院的錄取，不久后雅思復(fù)議成功的郵件也如約來(lái)到郵箱，幸運(yùn)的感覺(jué)也讓我更加堅(jiān)信，努力和謀劃總會(huì)有回報(bào)。</p>

<p>那時(shí)，我心中有著多個(gè)選擇。新國(guó)立的offer讓我既興奮又有些猶豫，畢竟這是一所世界頂尖的大學(xué)，尤其是工程與設(shè)計(jì)學(xué)院，在業(yè)界聲譽(yù)斐然。生物醫(yī)學(xué)工程從專(zhuān)業(yè)上也非常符合我對(duì)復(fù)合型工科的向往。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>但是在深入了解課程設(shè)置后，我發(fā)現(xiàn)NUS的bme專(zhuān)業(yè)偏向材料學(xué)和醫(yī)療器械，不是我更想學(xué)的電學(xué)；且專(zhuān)業(yè)跨度過(guò)大，課程更偏向研究型，可能需要讀到博士層次才會(huì)有更多選擇。我預(yù)感自己可能會(huì)學(xué)得非常吃力，拿不到高的成績(jī)導(dǎo)致不利于就業(yè)或者讀博。</p>
<p> </p>
<h1><strong>為了就業(yè)選擇南洋理工</strong></h1>
<p> </p>
<p>然而，在不久后我又收到南洋理工大學(xué)的生物醫(yī)學(xué)數(shù)據(jù)科學(xué)offer時(shí)，我的內(nèi)心產(chǎn)生了明顯的傾向性。南洋理工也具有很強(qiáng)的學(xué)術(shù)氛圍，尤其在數(shù)據(jù)科學(xué)、人工智能和計(jì)算機(jī)等前沿領(lǐng)域的優(yōu)勢(shì)更大。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>最重要的是，該專(zhuān)業(yè)為南洋理工和新加坡科技局合辦的專(zhuān)業(yè)，每年只招30-50人，相比大類(lèi)招生的專(zhuān)業(yè)而言培養(yǎng)方案更加精細(xì)。還為研究生提供至少6到7個(gè)月的各種可供選擇的實(shí)習(xí)或者實(shí)驗(yàn)室科研機(jī)會(huì)（前幾屆中包含麥肯錫、新加坡科技局的實(shí)習(xí)計(jì)劃），無(wú)論是未來(lái)選擇繼續(xù)科研還是就業(yè)，都可以在這個(gè)專(zhuān)業(yè)的學(xué)習(xí)中為自己作出詳細(xì)的規(guī)劃。并且，回國(guó)后該專(zhuān)業(yè)的教育部認(rèn)證為數(shù)據(jù)科學(xué)大類(lèi)，有良好的就業(yè)支持系統(tǒng)。這讓我開(kāi)始傾向于選擇南洋理工，盡管新國(guó)立的offer讓我非常心動(dòng)。</p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color: #0086d1;">最終，我交了南洋理工的留位費(fèi)，確認(rèn)了這份offer。</span>固然放棄一個(gè)做了四年夢(mèng)的名校offer實(shí)在困難，固然新國(guó)立的排名和聲譽(yù)讓人心動(dòng)，但南洋理工更為充實(shí)的實(shí)習(xí)機(jī)會(huì)和就業(yè)條件讓我決定選擇它。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>回頭看這段申請(qǐng)的過(guò)程，心中充滿(mǎn)了感慨。最初，在申請(qǐng)過(guò)程中我并不順利，甚至一度覺(jué)得自己會(huì)錯(cuò)過(guò)機(jī)會(huì)，尤其是新國(guó)立的offer遲遲未到，那時(shí)我甚至有些絕望，覺(jué)得自己可能會(huì)因?yàn)檠潘汲煽?jī)和背景而被拒絕。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>那段時(shí)間，我經(jīng)常在床上躺到凌晨?jī)牲c(diǎn)才睡著，甚至開(kāi)始懷疑自己做出的決定是否正確。然而，最后的結(jié)果讓我意識(shí)到，錄取并不是完全取決于成績(jī)或背景，有時(shí)也需要一點(diǎn)點(diǎn)運(yùn)氣，但是如果做好了充足的準(zhǔn)備，迎合項(xiàng)目去提高自己的匹配度，想要的offer會(huì)在揭榜的第一時(shí)間躺在你的郵箱里。</p>

<p>回想整個(gè)申請(qǐng)過(guò)程，我最大的收獲是學(xué)會(huì)了如何在壓力下保持冷靜，如何在遇到困難時(shí)堅(jiān)持自己的選擇?；蛟S這跟考研有些類(lèi)似，像在一個(gè)漆黑的房間里洗衣服，我們不知道衣服洗得如何了，只能拼命努力，抓取一切可能的機(jī)會(huì)，不斷提升自己的綜合實(shí)力。在offer雨到來(lái)的那一刻，就是天亮檢驗(yàn)成果的時(shí)候。</p>

<p>對(duì)于那些正在為留學(xué)而努力的學(xué)弟學(xué)妹們，我想說(shuō)：留學(xué)是一個(gè)持久戰(zhàn)，需要具體的圍繞確切目標(biāo)作出計(jì)劃，保持耐心，抓住每一個(gè)可以提升自己的機(jī)會(huì)。最終，無(wú)論結(jié)果如何，自己走過(guò)的每一步都會(huì)成為未來(lái)成功的基石。</p>

<p>在這里，我也想給正在準(zhǔn)備留學(xué)申請(qǐng)的同學(xué)們送上一些小小的建議。</p>

<p>1. 首先，要盡早開(kāi)始準(zhǔn)備，留學(xué)申請(qǐng)是一個(gè)長(zhǎng)期積累的過(guò)程，早早規(guī)劃可以讓你從容不迫地面對(duì)每一個(gè)階段。</p>
<p> </p>
<p>2. 其次，成績(jī)固然重要，但軟背景同樣不可忽視。學(xué)術(shù)競(jìng)賽、實(shí)習(xí)經(jīng)驗(yàn)、語(yǔ)言成績(jī)等，都是提升自身競(jìng)爭(zhēng)力的有效方式。</p>

<p>3. 最重要的是，保持一顆堅(jiān)持的心。申請(qǐng)過(guò)程中難免會(huì)遇到挫折，但希望你要不放棄，堅(jiān)持自己的目標(biāo)，夢(mèng)校的offer終將屬于你。</p>

<p>祝愿所有有留學(xué)夢(mèng)想的學(xué)弟學(xué)妹們，都能夠順利實(shí)現(xiàn)自己的夢(mèng)想！無(wú)論結(jié)果如何，留學(xué)申請(qǐng)的過(guò)程本身，就是一個(gè)充滿(mǎn)成長(zhǎng)與自我發(fā)現(xiàn)的旅程。</p>
